Over Easter I was at the Akram Vignan UK Shibir (retreat) – and such a wonderful 5 days it was. I was on a natural bliss-high for a week after. About 800 people attended, and it took place at a Pontins holiday place in Suffolk – a bit like Butlins! Essentially – basic, comfortable-enough accommodation but affordable.
You can see some pictures below, some are a bit blurred – I was not so ‘on the ball’ with taking pictures for this post, but they give you a feel for the shibir.
It’s hard to put into words what to say about the shibir – you definitely had to be there. But I can say that this is what retreats should be about. Why? Because this path of knowledge is so sweet and so full of shakti. Actually as I try to find words I’m at a loss. That’s a good thing! Because Truth really has no words. But we continue to try…
In terms of a down-to-earth description – well, it was 5 days and there were people from the UK of course mainly, but also from the US, Germany and India. Deepakbhai had come with some of the other Mahatmas (those who have taken Gnan Vidhi) and the whole 5 days was very well organised, with a team serving in the kitchen also, supporting the Pontins’ staff. We had satsangs given by Deepakbhai plus others, free time, walks on the beach, lots of food, darshan (blessing) and a beautiful garba, a Gujarati dance on the last night (imagine 800 people dancing round and round in circles).
Deepakbhai is the only one who gives Gnan Vidhi at present, he was with Dadashri for many years and received Dada’s blessing and siddhis to be able to give the Gnan. Dadashri was the one who became self-realized in 48 minutes sitting at a train station in Gujarat in 1958, then he started giving the Gnan Vidhi as what he called an ‘experiment.’ The love for Deepakbhai from those on the shibir (and from Mahatmas the world over) was clear to see. Deepakbhai combined his UK trip with trips to Germany where about 250+ took Gnan Vidhi (picture below) and Spain where a similar number of people again, took Gnan. In June/July he is in the US and in a couple of weeks he goes down to Oz.
More perhaps in a another post about this path.
