money on the spiritual path

I have no feeling of having to justify why I have ads on this blog. To me it’s perfectly reasonable given I put in so much time, effort and money into it. Of course it is a labour of love yet it does cost to run it so I’m quite happy – and grateful – to receive any monies via any affiliate ads, Adsense etc. As I’ve said before I would be the first one to opt for a world without money. But we are far from that point at present, and so 3D life demands we pay our bills, pay for food, clothing etc etc. Who could survive without money in this world?

In addition to that I work in online marketing and I enjoy all that neeky, geeky kind of stuff – blogs, online marketing, affiliate marketing et al.

So… you may wonder – why write this post if I don’t feel I need to justify it? And here’s why:

This comment was submitted recently:

“go away reena…far away…find another way to make money…namaste”

Being kind, I shall not post the name of the one who added this comment. Needless to say, I rejected this comment. I’m not interested in making such nasty, personal comments public on my blog. (A post is different however as it is sharing and opening up this discussion.) I won’t accept it for myself nor directed at anyone else. The world is full of people who say and do nasty things. So we don’t need to focus on more of that. When I first read the above comment I was a bit stunned for second. It’s not a nice comment. I found it rather telling that out of ALL the information on this site, this person wanted to focus on that (money). And the use of the word namaste is ironic given it means ‘I bow to your true self.’

Sometimes people are so suspicious of others that they jump to conclusions that suit their own judgments. Usually such comments are more – or solely – about them rather than the one they are directing them at.  So let’s just set this matter straight.

I have worked this blog for about two years now. I can’t tell you the hours I’ve put into it, even to the point that my younger son sometimes says I am on my laptop ‘all the time’ (ok, a bit of exaggeration, but kids are like that aren’t they). I’ve spent money on the theme, on a paid mailing list for 18 months and I continue to pay for hosting (since it’s a wordpress.org site not wordpress.com), and probably other costs I’ve forgotten. Oh yeah, I’ve paid a coder before to fix some issues, plus paid someone for graphics work. You get the idea. Basically, running a blog has its associated costs.

So….I am conscience-free if I make money from it. A fair exchange I’d say. Actually a fairer exchange would be if I was making a whole lot more from it since I’ve spent a whole lot more on this site than I’ve made!  The truth is I make so little from this blog, despite the ads, that this topic is really redundant – the irony.  I see this whole thing about earning money through blogging totally differently to the one who submitted the comment. When I read other people’s blogs and see ads I don’t mind, since I know what it takes to run an active site.

Besides, we would do well to remember that money itself is just paper or numbers on a screen. It’s neutral. It’s functional. Only WE make it something else in our minds and attach to it. Then we get jealous of others or resentful of others’ success etc.

Oh for a world without money…

It’s good to blog up a post of my own again. it’s been a little while.

Have a good weekend folks – but I should be posting some more posts this weekend all being well.

“Besides, we would do well to remember that money itself is just paper or numbers on a screen. It’s neutral. It’s functional.”
Those are wise words that chime with my own feelings when I read posts saying that these banknotes, or those banknotes are worthless with the (almost) suggestion that we should all pay our supermarket bills with chunks of gold. Once a banknote leaves a bank it’s value is whatever value it’s users collectively place on it. At least that is how it should be.
I too say don’t worry about the tiny majority of moaners Reena. As I once said to you privately while you had server problems, I am sure that many of your followers would gladly donate money to keep the web site running.
It’s a curious thing with the Google ads. They are so ubiquitous that I’m sure most people develop a blind spot for them – which rather defeats their purpose. Even if I do see them I don’t react to them except under very rare circumstances. There was one of those circumstances recently. The Google Ads to the right of the recent story about paedophiles had ads for “child pornography” as one of the offerings. I didn’t dare click on that one to see what it was about ! I notice that since then it’s changed to such suggestions as “child protection” and “child safety”.

Bill, just picking up on one of your points as it’s getting late….ref the Google Adsense ad you saw, I can’t say I have ever seen such an ad but then I don’t look at all of them….I’m not sure what to say except if you see such an ad again, please do send me a pic of it if you possibly can.

Dear Reena,
don’t let it bother you ~ we all love you and appreciate your time and effort to ‘dig’ for important happenings for us~ Add more if you need to ~ your site is exceptionally ‘clean’ ~ whoever wrote that doesn’t understand the time, effort, cost of domain, etc. that a website demands / commands ~ add book suppliers, health, anything you need. I for one will be clicking on them ~~~~
Sending love and a huge thank you ~ I always check your posts first when I surmise the mountain of mail ~ it is the one I forward each time as well ~

EVEN MYSTICS HAVE BILLS TO PAY!
I have had a website for astrology (www.astrochakras.com) up for almost 7 years now. Not much to look at, but it is my “baby”. I don’t know about you, Reena, but for what it costs to maintain the site, the site in and of itself has yet to pay for itself. You are right when you describe what you do as a labor of Love!!! I, for one, truly appreciate all of your efforts. Until we all jump to 5D, advertising is a necessary “evil”. Afterall, that is why a yin-yang symbol has both a light and dark side – they can’t be in balance without each other! Namaste!

i concur with everyone’s comments. this is a wonderful and unique site. you should have more advertising.

Nowhere in the great books does it say you should be broke. Bless you for all that you do. You are a sweet child from God.

Gloria Anderson

Hi Reena!
Just a line to say how MUCH I appreciate you and this site. I pray that you may be able to increase your ADs in order to maintain this site. It is not a good feeling when others mouth-off about you and they are not doing anything to assist you in keeping your site up. I have experienced haters before and I expect they won’t stop but YOU keep doing what you do. WE appreciate you SO much and love you as we are called to do.
Gloria

Gloria, LOL about increasing the ads. Your words and all others’ are so appreciated and I love you all too. Nah, the haters won’t stop me 🙂 Much Love & Light.

Caroline

Hi Reena,
I don’t even notice the ads because the content of your blog is so important to me. It’s all in one’s state of consciousness. Your’s is my “go-to” blog and I have shared it with countless individuals. 🙂

digitalfuse

Caroline, I am glad you don’t even notice the ads, for it is the info that is important, as you say. Many thanks for sharing with others – peeps have just got to wake up 🙂 Love & Light.

Absolutely Reena, one should make money from their labor of love. That is the balance of our worlds and besides, who said money is bad? It’s a love/communication/exchange energy supporting our love of life. May it swirl itself in abundance for everyone and bring exactly what we want and need into our lives.
I know how much time you spend on this blog, it is real work, real effort and real time and very often it is time away from our loved ones. So thank you very much for all you’ve done for the sake of community that wonders, ponders and learns how to discern from our highest source.
You are very much appreciated. Namaste.

digitalfuse

Marina, thank you, your comment is much appreciated. Love & Light.

Luey

Dear Reena..you are spot on with your comments. Many Blessings to you for your ongoing efforts to communicate information the commercial media tends to ignore; good, bad, indifferent, right or wrong…its important that its made available. Thank you for your work.

To Luey, Stephen, Julian, Theodore, Ken, The White Fox – thank you very much for your supportive comments.
And yes, it feels better getting it off my chest (always good to do in good company) and making this an open topic. When these sorts of comments come through on the very odd occasion it leaves a heavy energy around in the background for a while, and I find posting is a good way to release this energy and get back to the task of what this blog is actually about.
Money is such a heavy, loaded thing and comments like that one make me even more fired up about communicating truth information. Although there is personal responsibility for what we individually say and do (ie referring to the commenter in question), it’s not always easy given the corrupt and demanding system that has been so surreptitiously created by TPTB (TPTW?) to enslave us all (well, almost all). But still, the point that the guy who said that, missed, is that the challenge is not with people making money within the matrix, the challenge is to wake up to the fact that the matrix is not all there is, and that there is a red pill right in front of their eyes, with a glass of water on the side.
Anyway, once again, thanks so much guys and much Love & Light.
PS. Just to say that I have tried to have only ads on this blog related to the subject matter but it is not always possible with Google. Google being Google (aka ‘God’), unless I have missed a setting somewhere, quietly seem to add in ads that they want to add in, eg bank loans etc. So please forgive any ads like that, they’re the last ones I want on here, but somehow it seems Google do some selecting for you rather than give you total control. There must come a time surely when Google will start to fall off its high perch….I know most of you are not bothered about all of this sort of stuff, but I wanted to make that clear due to those horrid bank loan and other similar ads on this site! Ok, over and out about ads….Time for some stuff that is truly important.

Stephen

I don’t feel you have to justify it at all!
It’s just that we’re living in a world where money seems the ‘prime objective’ in our ‘corrupt society’ of our making? ( sorry the people that think they OWN us!)
Unfortunately people need money to live, otherwise sites such as these wouldn’t exist, which I think would be rather unfortunate.
Well done;      Reena

Keep up your great work !
Continue to focus on what is important…

Theodore Pong

I keep up with your site fairly regularly. Considering the great service you are performing, I don’t think you need to pay any more attention to a few half baked detractors of your excellent dedicated work who don’t like your views on money, than to a few buzzing flies. And you surely owe no one any apology.
What jerk!
Namaste

Ken

Hello Reena, I hope you feel better getting it out so to speak as I personally never felt in visiting your site anything other than good positive energy. In that light, thank you for your hard work and effort, it has helped me along in my journey and it’s comforting to know their are sites like this that are assisiting humanity at this critical time. Namaste, and I really mean that, Ken.

The White Fox

I support you Reena. I think you do a great job here and I have truly benefited from your efforts.
There’s always going to be a bad apple in the barrel or a bad strawberry in the basket. Just take them out and toss them away. They have their own path to follow.
Namaste.
