Winter Solstice & the Grand Conjunction

There is a special date coming up very soon. On 21st December 2020 which is the Winter Solstice, Jupiter and Saturn will come together in a rare alignment which is called the Grand Conjunction.

This astrological event is said to be the start of the Age of Aquarius. Jupiter and Saturn’s vibrations will blend and work together during this time as they move into Aquarius at 0 degrees.  The conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter is something that happens once every 20 years, and this year’s will be the closest to Earth since 1623.  That it falls on the Winter Solstice is something that hasn’t happened in 1000s of years.  Jupiter and Saturn will come within 0.1 degrees of each other, forming the first visible “double planet” in 800 years.

Some astrologers are calling this one of the biggest astrological events of our lifetimes.  So I’ve summarised below some points about this grand conjunction and how to ‘navigate’ for the highest good of ourselves.  These are not my own thoughts as I’m not an astrologer (just a believer in unseen astrological energies affecting our daily lives), they’re collected from various places online and mixed in with my own intuition about the energetics of this time.

What Is Said About The Grand Conjunction

  • Said to be the dawning of the Age of Aquarius (and ending of the Age of Pisces). On December 16, Saturn will move into Aquarius and on December 19, Jupiter will follow.
  • Aquarius signifies social change and justice for all.
  • The Age of Aquarius will last 2,160 years so this is a major shift, a new beginning.
  • This Grand Conjunction will happen at 0 degrees, this points to a brand new beginning, a rebirth, a renewal.  This rebirth will be on a collective / societal level as well as in our own individual lives.  So get ready for some major changes or shifts internally, externally or both.
  • Some say the Grand Conjunction is the Star of Bethlehem which the three Magi (Eastern Astrologers) followed
  • This event will create intense energetics felt by all, knowingly or unknowingly
  • Both Jupiter and Saturn are associated with authority, but each very differently. Jupiter is to do with health, wealth and having a good time, and a generous leader, whilst Saturn is associated with laws, structure and the structure of authority. When the two align, there can be power struggles – not surprising if you follow what’s going on between the lines of the mainstream rhetoric.

I could go on adding tidbits of interesting info about the Grand Conjunction but I think that will do.  There are many sites with much more info you can read.  What is more of interest I’m sure is how this will affect us personally and collectively, so here’s some suggestions on how to harness the arising energies.

How To Navigate the Grand Conjunction

The Grand Conjunction is asking us to be courageous to leave old habits and dynamics that we know (or don’t know as yet) are underneath the surface of our lives, and don’t serve us anymore. This event is all about starting something new, a rebirth, but we can’t do that till we leave the old behind so that space for the new way or new aspects can be created.

The advantage of this Grand Conjunction is that when we do take some courage to do what we know to be needed in our lives, we will be supported by the prevailing energetic dynamics around the planet and around us.  These energies can support us in the lessons we need to learn and in the changes we need to make.  It’s also about changes in society and globally – something very relevant for this time.

As I mentioned I’m not an astrologer but I have had experiences of unseen energies changing my life in a lasting or significant way.  One example is waking up a vegetarian on 9-9-9 – weird but true. So if you’re an astrology or spiritual sceptic maintain an open mind. Don’t write off the unseen side of life – for there is too much proof if one sees with eyes truly open that the physical reality is not the ultimate reality.  Such proof however must come through one’s own life, it’s our direct experience that shows us what’s what in the end, so ask for this – ask for direct proof if you’re on the fence.

With this Grand Conjunction we have a great opportunity to open our minds to something new and something powerful.

That may all sound fine and dandy but how do you actually make use of this event?  My tip would be to use visualisation to create the future you want – for society as well as yourself, as you feel drawn.  You can start doing this now, no need to wait for the 21st itself.

Envision the big picture you want to see happen. If you’re challenged by relationship or financial / work issues, envision what you want to see happen for the good of all.  When we visualise changes for the good of all, we align quicker with universal energy to make it happen. If you find it hard to visualise, then pray.  Sincere prayer works, without a doubt. Basically in some way or other use the energies arising with these astrological events (there was also a powerful eclipse and new moon recently) to harness and channel the energy towards your own evolution and growth.  And if you don’t believe all this mumbo jumbo then do the visualisation or prayers anyway 🙂  There is nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Of course visualisation or prayer is not the only thing we must do when faced with challenges, but it’s a foundational start.  And there are many other ways to harness the energies during this time – meditation, simply being in stillness or spending time alone, making efforts to be more conscious (out of mind-based thinking), grounding in the here and now through nature or sacred music, breath work, and others.  The main thing is to do something different to what you’ve always done in respect of getting present in the here and now.

If you don’t have any major changes on your radar that you feel you can visualise, then just be open to what the universe is telling you at this time.  One thing is for sure, nothing remains truly still in a void of nothingness, things are always moving in one direction or another, so the trick is to sense the flow of energies in any given moment and go with the flow, rather than against it.  The Winter Solstice and Grand Conjunction can help us align more with this flow.

This astrological moment (or moments as there’s a build-up) is a time that’s asking us to move beyond comfort zones and not stay put.  Life, society, this planet and our souls are changing / shifting whether we know it or not, whether we like it or not.  Do you feel something big happening in the ethers is occurring and building up?

The question is whether we will change in a direction that aligns with love, compassion and our own needed growth, and fulfil what we came here to do at this time, or cling even tighter to our old ways. The choice is ours.

My tuppence worth for now on the Grand Conjunction to come.

And for an uplifting channelled message by Patricia Cota-Robles about the Grand Conjunction please click here, and a brief excerpt from it here:

“During the December 21st Solstice and the simultaneous Grand Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn, every person’s I AM Presence will elevate our Holy Breath to new levels. We will then begin Breathing higher frequencies of Prana and our Life Force with every Breath we take.”
